Dear Minister Terzi, Excellencies, Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen, Let me start by thanking the host, Minister Terzi for the invitation to participate in today's meeting. I would like to congratulate the governments of Italy and Spain for convening this timely Ministerial Meeting which represents a good opportunity to take stock of the current state of negotiations. I commend organizers for ensuring wide participation of countries across different regions and with different perspectives with regard to the Security Council reform. This should benefit and enrich our discussion as we collectively search for the answers and ways to move forward on the path towards the long-overdue comprehensive Security Council reform.

Government of Montenegro welcomes UN resolution on elimination of chemical weapon in Syria

Government of Montenegro welcomes the adoption of a legally binding UN Security Council’s resolution on ridding Syria of chemical weapons, in accordance with the agreement reached between the United States and Russia in Geneva. The resolution commits the Syrian regime to eliminating its chemical weapons programme. It also sends a clear message that the use of chemical weapon is a threat to international peace and stability, thus demonstrating the international community’s commitment to responding adequately to the use of chemical weapons.
