The gallery space of the European Parliament in Brussels hosted last night an exhibition of contemporary Montenegrin art entitled “Presences – Illusion Zones.” The exhibition was made in partnership by the Ministry of Culture, Montenegro’s Permanent Mission to the European Union, and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Group).

Co-chairs of the Group of Friends of Mediation, head diplomats of Turkey and Finland, noted as encouraging the fact that the Group, established in 2010 and comprising 45 member-states, has had notable success in its work, bearing in mind the world of today faces more frequent and more complex conflicts, as well as growing expectations for mediation. They welcomed Montenegro’s membership of the Group, which was recently joined by Kenya and the US, and they invited other countries to join the initiative and make mediation a key UN task. Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić said mediation deserves more resources and scrutiny of all UN members, and highlighted Montenegro’s support to all concrete efforts in that regard.

On day two of his stay in New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić met with foreign ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatko Lagumdžija, and Georgia, Maia Panjikidze, at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly 68th General Debate. The talks focused on bilateral matters, key foreign-policy priorities, and multilateral cooperation.

During his stay in New York on the occasion of the 68th General Debate, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Igor Lukšić held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu, Spain José Manuel García-Margallo y Marfil, and Albania Ditmir Bushati. Minister Lukšić and his Turkish counterpart Mr Davutoglu exchanged views on bilateral relations, integration processes, and regional cooperation. They agreed that the two countries’ successful cooperation at all levels and their intensive political dialogue mark a very good relationship between Montenegro and Turkey.
