Brussels: Full support of Belgium for Montenegrin aspirations for EU and NATO membership

In the course of visit to Brussels Vice President of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr. Igor Lukšić had bilateral meeting with the Vice President of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium Mr. Didier Reynders. Vice President of the Government of Belgium positively assessed overall bilateral relations and emphasized that there is space for further improvement of cooperation in different areas of mutual interest, particularly strengthening economic relations. Having paid tribute for progress that Montenegro has realized in integration process Reynders expressed full support of Belgium for Montenegrin aspirations for EU and NATO membership. He emphasized readiness for continuation of expert assistance in adoption and implementation of European standards along with the need for evaluation of individual progress in integration.

Brussels: Montenegro made tangible progress in previous MAP cycle

The meeting between North Atlantic Council and Montenegro was held yesterday in Brussels. On behalf of NATO the meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow whereas Montenegrin delegation was headed by Vice President of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr. Igor Lukšić and Minister of Defense Ms. Milica Pejanović-Đurišić.

Budapest: Support of Hungary for the process of Montenegrin accession to EU

Secretary of State for European Integration Aleksandar Andrija Pejović made visit to Hungary in the course of which he had several meetings with high officials of the Government in charge of European Affairs. During the meeting with Secretary of State for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Ms. Enik Gyry, the interlocutors exchanged views on achieved results and further obligations in the process of EU accession.

Hungary is carrying on to provide strong support for European and Euro Atlantic integration of Montenegro

Vice President of the Government and Minster of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr. Igor Lukšić received yesterday for a farewell visit Mr. Tibor Csaszar Ambassador of Hungary in Montenegro. Hungarian Ambassador positively assessed efforts that Montenegro has put with the purpose of realizing its foreign policy priorities and he restated that the policy of Hungarian Government toward Montenegro will be directed to providing strong support for achieving strategic priorities of Montenegro – NATO and EU membership. He also expressed his gratitude for excellent cooperation that he had had at all levels in the course of his term in office.

Statement of the MFA of Montenegro in view of current situation in Egypt

On the occasion of current situation in Egypt, and despite the fact that there are no riots in touristic centers Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh or registered incidents including citizens of Montenegro, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is warning about continuous complicating of situation in Egypt, and is pointing out potential risk to safety of our citizens during their stay in this country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recommends that Montenegrin citizens, staying at the moment in Egypt or are planning to travel to this country restrain themselves from any risk activities such as participation in public gatherings and protests at any side.

Regional workshop on implementation of international restrictive measures

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration hosted Regional workshop on implementation of international restrictive measures that was held on July 4-5 in Podgorica in cooperation with the European Commission through TAIEX instrument. Participants of the workshop were representatives of the states from the region (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia) and representatives of relevant institutions of Montenegro who are directly in charge of implementation of above mentioned measures.

Closing ceremony of sixth summer school “Gavro Vuković”

Podgorica, (MINA) – Gathering of foreign diplomats in Montenegro is the right approach of the young state to create its diplomatic service, Secretary of State for European Integration Aleksandar Andrija Pejović assessed. At the official diploma presentation ceremony “Gavro Vuković” Pejović recalled that Montenegro has been independent for seven years and that 6th generation completed diplomatic school. »I believe that the right approach of one young state wishing to create its diplomatic service is not only to observe things straight and unilaterally but to share its experience, knowledge, strategic commitment with other states’’ he said in front of Villa Gorica to journalists and participants.

Vice President of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić received Slovenian Defence Minister Roman Jakić

Vice President Lukšić expressed his gratitude for continuous support of Slovenia on the plan of Montenegro’s NATO integration and he particularly emphasised constructive approach of Slovenian Embassy in Podgorica in executing function of NATO contact Embassy for Montenegro. He introduced planned activities with the purpose of rising public support for integration in North Atlantic Alliance and further implementation of reforms in the defence sector. He assessed that Montenegro’s presiding over US-Adriatic Charter (A5) will be good occasion to send once again the message about importance of Alliance enlargement process.
