Darmanović- McCluney: Montenegro is firmly committed to multilateralism and regional cooperation

Regional dialogue and cooperation represent important elements for fostering stability, security and prosperity of the Western Balkans - emphasized on today’s meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. Dr. Srđan Darmanović and UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro Fiona McCluney.

“Montenegro is strongly committed to the fundaments of multilateralism, promotion and protection of human rights, democratic principles and rule of law as bases for sustainable peace, security and socio-economic development”, stated on today’s meeting head of Montenegrin diplomacy. In that line, he emphasized the importance of Agenda 2030 and SDG’s promotion, where close cooperation with the UN system for its implementation for the national level is very important. He added that Montenegro is firmly dedicated to the regional cooperation, dialogue and joint approach in addressing issues that are important for long-term stability and overall progress of the Western Balkans. 

McCluney expressed pleasure with the constructive dialogue between the UN in Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while thanking for excellent cooperation in numerous projects that contributed to the development of Montenegrin society. In addition, she emphasized the importance of joint work in terms of implementation of Agenda 2030 and SDG’s, while particularly addressing the significance of cooperation and strengthening of dialogue in the region that will contribute to the social cohesion and increasing capacities of all actors in a society.
