Darmanović-Antonione: Cooperation important pillar of the long-term stability and prosperity of the region

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Prof. Dr. Srđan Darmanović met today with the newly elected Secretary General of the Central-European Initiative (CEI) Roberto Antonione.

Minister Darmanović congratulated Antonione for the appointment and expressed that CEI, during his term, will strengthen its role as a credible actor committed to further linkage and consolidation of European perspective of countries of the region. He stated that regional cooperation represents one of pillars of the long-term stability and prosperity of the region, therefore Montenegro, as a responsible and reliable partner, will continue to actively contribute to CEI’s work.

Secretary General Antonione expressed pleasure with the role and proactive approach of Montenegro in CEI, praised our country’s commitment to regional mechanisms of cooperation, and emphasized that Montenegro represents a symbol of good relations in the region, which is also recognized in the international community. In line with that, interlocutors have expressed pleasure with the announced signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between CEI and Adriatic-Ionian Initiative that will be held at the meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (May 2019) in the framework of Montenegrin chairmanship.

Head of Montenegrin diplomacy underlined the importance of establishment of the South-East Europe International Institute for Sustainable Technologies in the context of regional progress in the field of science, innovation and technology. Secretary General Antonione stated that CEI fully supports establishment of the Institute and pointed out potential areas of cooperation of two organisations in following period.
