Minister Darmanović talked with the President of the Committee on European Affairs and Control of European Funds of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria

Minister of Foreign Affairs prof. Dr. Srdjan Darmanovic talked today with a delegation of the Committee on European Affairs and Control of European Funds of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, led by the President of the Committee, Mr. Kristian Vigenin.

Minister Darmanovic thanked for the continued support of Bulgaria to our country during the integration processes and stressed the importance of recently held Summit in Sofia for the Western Balkan countries and their membership in the EU. In that regard, he said that the adoption of the Declaration, which repeated unambiguously support for the European perspective of the Region, as well as the future EU Presidencies, whose focus also will be the enlargement of the Union to the Western Balkans, is an additional impetus for the implementation of internal reforms and faster fulfillment of standards for the membership.

Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs and Control of European Funds Vigenin, praised the results that Montenegro accomplishes during the EU negotiation process and reiterated that is a leader of the European integration in the Region. He stressed that the Committee on European Affairs and Control of European Funds of the Parliament of Bulgaria will continue to provide expert assistance to the competent working body of the Parliament of Montenegro. Speaking about the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU, Vigenin emphasized the importance of better infrastructure connectivity, both the countries of the region and the EU.

The interlocutors assessed that the political relations between two countries are excellent, but there is room for intensifying cooperation in a number of areas with regard to the economic cooperation.

Opinions on current political topics were also exchanged and the role and importance of the Parliament in the process of further democratization of society was pointed out.
