Minister of Foreign Affairs Srdjan Darmanovic, PhD, held a briefing in Podgorica today for the ambassadors of EU member states. Ambassador Aivo Orav, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, also participated in the briefing.

The meeting was an opportunity to look at the European perspective of Montenegro, with particular reference to the recently published EU Enlargement Strategy, as well as to the importance of the visits of the European top officials to the Region, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, as well as European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

In this context, Minister Darmanovic stressed that the Strategy confirms that, despite all the challenges facing the European Union, the policy of enlargement, which is important for the credibility of the Union and the long-term stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans region, is high on the agenda.

Minister Darmanovic emphasised that the future of Montenegro, but also of all the countries of the region, in the EU, and that the integration process, which will lead to this goal, is the key to a sustainable European architecture and a strategic stake in stability and democracy.

The Montenegrin Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the ambassadors for the support they provide to our country on its path to EU membership, both at working and expert levels. He pointed to Montenegro's firm commitment to implementing the necessary interior reforms in order to meet the standards for the sake of the well-being of all citizens.
