The first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco took place today in Rabat. Montenegrin and Moroccan delegations were headed by state secretaries Ambassador Mr. Zoran Jankovic and Ms. Mounia Boucetta.

At the meeting were discussed concrete modalities for the promotion of bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, agriculture, tourism and culture. In this context, it is estimated that the first official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Mr. Srdjan Darmanovic to the Kingdom of Morocco in the first half of next year will provide a strong impulse to intensification of relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Janković informed the interlocutor about the current political and economic situation in Montenegro, as well as its strategic foreign and political priorities. Boucetta congratulated Montenegro on its membership to NATO and expressed the belief that the cooperation between Podgorica and Rabat will be further strengthened in mutual interest. She particularly thanked our side for supporting numerous Moroccan candidatures in international organizations, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and UNESCO.

With the aim of further improving collaboration at the multilateral level, Ambassador Janković in more detail discussed with Mr. Hassan Benallal, Head of the Divison for the Mediterranean and Mr. Tajerramt Abdessamad, Head of the Division for International Organizations in the Moroccan MFA the preparation of the upcoming IV Seminar of the Moroccan-Spanish Initiative on the Promotion of Mediation in region of the Mediterranean, that Montenegro will host in February 2018.
