Minister of Foreign Affairs Srdjan Darmanovic, PhD, participated at the annual Mediterranean Conference of the OSCE, which was held on October 24th and 25th in Palermo, Italy.

In his presentation, Minister Darmanović pointed out the need for a coordinated approach and joint resolution of all issues related to the Mediterranean countries, in which at the given moment the treatment of migrants and their acceptance is recognized as a priority. He emphasized that, given the scope and complexity of the migration and displacement phenomena, it became clear that these long-term global challenges require a comprehensive approach that is compatible with the human rights concept.

The conference concluded that migration management is not a matter of an ad hoc solution, but requires long-term plans and approaches, bearing in mind that the economic, social and cultural aspects of migratory movements are often ignored. The joint responsibility of all international actors in combating intolerance, racism, xenophobia and discrimination has been emphasized.

On the margins of the Mediterranean Conference, the Montenegrin Foreign Minister met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Andrei Galburom. The interlocutors discussed the modalities of strengthening cooperation in the multilateral framework, with particular emphasis on exchange of support in the governing bodies of the regional cooperation mechanisms.
