Baku: Cooperation in the field of economy between Montenegro and Azerbaijan confirms the strategic partnership

During the second day of his stay in Baku, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, prof. Dr. Srdjan Darmanovic, had a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In an interview with President Aliyev, it was estimated that two countries, by holding regular meetings at the highest level, numerous working contacts and through a series of signed bilateral agreements, succeeded in achieving an enviable level of mutual understanding and cooperation in the period after the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Minister Darmanović congratulated the realization of the project of historic significance "Railway - Silk Road", ie the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway linking Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, as well as the West with the East. He said that Azarbejdžan is one of the most important foreign investors in Montenegro and emphasized the importance of implementing valuable infrastructure projects that contribute to the affirmation of our country as an attractive investment destination.

President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the relations between the two countries, based on friendship and successful economic cooperation, and congratulated Montenegro on the realization of foreign policy priorities - NATO membership and progress on its European integration path, commending a very constructive role of Montenegro in the Region. He stressed the need to identify new cooperation projects in the fields of tourism, energy, transport, agriculture. He underlined the importance of Azerbaijan's strategic relationship with several EU member states, stressing the importance of his country as an EU energy partner.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the current situation in the regions of the Western Balkans and the Caucasus and their importance for stability and security on an international level.
